MindSpray of the Die "We're Dying Slowly"

Hypertension, diabetes, AIDS, these are some of the many maladies that affect and have a big effect within the Black community. Thing is although it is often said that certain ailments are hereditary there are still some things we can do as individuals to help prevent these ailments from taking over our lives. As an advocate of holistic healing and living I've come to understand that the body is such a magnificient machine and has the ability to heal and protect itself with just a little help from us. Taking medications that have side effects and cause other problems in my opinion has never been the solution.

Instead, exercise, better eating habits have been proven to assist in maintaining proper health. Just because our grandparents and parents ate a certain way and cooked a certain way doesn't mean that's the best for us. Times changes and with those times we have to learn to make more informed decisions about what is best for us, not based on some of the traditions that were passed down. We're all individuals and individually we must determine our own wealth, our own wellness. Yes, Big Mama and Papa ate what they did  because that's all they had, but when you neglect to tell the story that Big Mama died an amputee or from other severe complications due to her diet we're doing ourselves a disservice. Take care of you because you only get one.
