Prolific Poetics "Black is Still Beautiful" by @consciousskillz

Black is Still Beautiful

I’ve taken it upon myself to address this insane concept that we as a people because of our skin color live under a curse. It seems we’ve lost the knowledge of our true selves and believing such nonsense has only made it worse.

So on you let me drop this small lesson in hopes you’ll understand that to be in the skin we’re in is a supreme blessing. Nowadays we spend too much time stressing, committing crimes against one another and transgressing. Instead of basking in the regalness of our epidermal dressing.

See, you and I didn’t have to buy a tan in a can to turn our skin cocoa brown or butter pecan. We’ve been blessed to have what it takes naturally to produce that effect when the sun interacts with the cells of our bodies to activate that special thing called melanin.

Black, it’s not just a shade or a color but a higher level of consciousness that enlightens the individual three fold. Through the manifestation of truth and actual facts it provides my brothers and sisters with knowledge, wisdom and understanding for the mind, body and soul.

You and I already know the history behind our various hues, shades and complexions, yet this learned behavior called self hatred has us running around trying to be what we’re not; forgetting our heritage and trying to assimilate without detection.

It’s by divine design that your skin tone and complexion is similar or the same as mine, so no more talk of skin bleaching or wearing blue eyed contacts. Our heritage and culture is majestic and knowledge of this we no longer lack. And contrary to popular opinion, untruths and backwards facts you and I are what we’re supposed to be and if nobody told you today, yes it’s still beautiful to be BLACK.
